Trellia Selected as one of Canada’s Technology Top 10™
Montreal, Canada: September 29, 2008 – Trellia Networks (www.trellia.com), a provider of mobility management software, was announced as a winner of the Canada Technology Top 10™ competition by OCRI (Ottawa Center for Research and Innovation). Trellia CEO Giovanni Forte will be present to receive the Top 10™ award on Tuesday October 7th at the 12th Annual Ottawa Venture and Technology Summit (www.ottawavts.com) where winners will meet with local and regional investors
Canada’s Top 10™ is organized by OCRI (Ottawa Center for Research and Innovation) and presented by Borden Ladner Gervais LLP to outstanding companies from the life science, cleantech and technology sectors. Winners are chosen by an independent expert panel of Canadian and U.S. venture capitalists. Working in partnership with Canadian Consulates in Boston, New York City, San Diego and San Francisco, winning companies will participate in targeted investment forums in each city, providing them with an opportunity to meet with investors who have expressed an active interest in financing them. Since its inception in 1999, competition alumni have secured more than $522M in venture capital financing.
“OCRI is pleased to play an active role in the growth of so many exceptional Canadian companies,” said Michelle Scarborough, Vice President, Investment and Commercialization, OCRI. “This is a successful program as evidenced by the investment in past winners. Through our ongoing outreach to the rest of Canada, the best companies from three key innovation sectors can continue to benefit from exposure to VC’s, other investors and potential strategic partners.”
Launched in 2003, Trellia has raised $6.8M in funding from tier-one Canadian VCs Fond FTQ and Skypoint Capital to bring the Trellia Mobility Platform to market. Through its partnership with Bell Mobility in Canada the company has developed a broad enterprise customer base that includes lead customers Export Development Canada, Soberman LLP and Carma Developers. Alongside Sprint in the United States, Trellia will support the launch of WiMAX by providing zero-click access and seamless roaming on the Xohm network.
“We are honored to receive this vote of confidence from OCRI and for the vocal support of our customers” said Trellia’s CEO, Giovanni Forte. “The dramatic growth in enterprise mobility demands the ability to simplify end user connectivity while enforcing IT policy compliance; these requirements offer Trellia a bright future.”
