EDC Boosts Global Mobile Workforce Productivity with Trellia Mobility Platform
Export Development Canada leverages “Zero-Click” access and mobile policy enforcement from Trellia for global 3G and Wi-Fi deployments.Montreal, Canada: October 7, 2008 – Trellia Networks (www.trellia.com) a provider of mobility management software, today announced that Export Development Canada deployed Trellia’s solution to enable seamless and secure 3G and Wi-Fi access for its global mobile workforce. EDC expects seven digit gains in productivity from its recently deployed mobile worker platform. The platform leverages HP tablets, a Cisco VPN and Trellia’s Mobility Platform for automating device connectivity and related security policies across all LAN, Wi-Fi and 3G networks globally.
Export Development Canada (EDC) is Canada’s export credit agency, offering innovative financing, insurance and risk management solutions to help Canadian exporters and investors expand their international business. Every year, EDC’s knowledge and partnerships are used by over 6,400 Canadian companies and their global customers in up to 200 markets worldwide.
“Our mobile workers are mainly bankers, insurance experts and consultants; and all require remote access to corporate applications, files, e-mail, video conferencing and collaboration tools while on the road visiting customers”, says David McNulty, EDC’s Telecommunications & Desktop Services Manager. “EDC needed a globally scalable solution that would simplify mobility for our end users while minimizing mobility related support and access costs”.
“EDC’s decision to deploy Trellia globally, validates the need to unify connectivity processes and related policies for successful enterprise mobility initiatives”, said Giovanni Forte, President and CEO of Trellia. “As organizations leverage an increasingly complex mix of wireless access, multiple 3G carriers and eventually WiMAX, the need to simplify the end user experience becomes paramount to obtain the expected productivity gains”.
Trellia’s Mobility Platform delivered benefits to each member of EDC’s virtual mobile workforce project team in client systems, telecom and networking. “Zero-click” access for automating connectivity and policy application meant less user training and ongoing support. The ability to disable 3G roaming and ensure cost effective network use meant access costs could be contained. And end user compliance was guaranteed through Trellia’s ability to manage location aware policies such VPN use and proxy settings.
