Trellia Launches New Cost Control and Security Features as Part of the Hosted Mobile Policy Management (MPM) Platform
Version 5.2 Features a New Security Dashboard and Wi-Fi Cost Management

Montreal, Canada, July 26, 2010 – Trellia Networks (www.trellia.com), a leading provider of enterprise mobility management solutions, today announced the launch of version 5.2 of its hosted Mobile Policy Management (MPM) platform, featuring new security and cost control management. These features are targeted at helping enterprises identify key public network usage issues that result in unnecessary costs and security breaches.

MPM version 5.2 provides additional visibility and control over the mobile workforce with the following new capabilities:

  • Security compliance & remedy dashboard: Gives enterprises a full view of security-related events such as VPN usage when connecting to non-corporate networks, usage of allowed and restricted Wi-Fi security levels, connections to trusted and non-trusted networks and potential connection bridging incidents. With this information at hand, the organization can immediately remediate security issues with existing MPM security policies.
  • Access cost management: In addition to existing cost management capabilities on 3G, paid Wi-Fi and public LAN cost reporting has been added to track access to paid Wi-Fi hotspots such as those in hotels and cafes. The organization can now have visibility over these un-managed costs and act appropriately instead of having them buried in user expense reports.
  • Wi-Fi security level policies: Enables IT to specify policies for un-trusted networks, which Wi-Fi authentication and security levels are acceptable, and enforce these minimum levels to the workforce, or enforce the VPN. This empowers the organization to eliminate the usage of open or weak security Wi-Fi networks at home or in public locations, thus eliminating breaches due to open or hacked network usage.
  • Enhanced 3G asset management: The existing 3G asset management with Gobi support has been augmented with support of external USB/mini-PCI 3G devices, to provide inventory information for assets deployed to the mobile workforce. It makes it possible to correlate which 3G device is being used by the mobile workforce and locate who it’s with to avoid the unnecessary expense of paying for plans for devices not in use or acquiring new devices which were thought lost or stolen.

“The new additions to the platform provide key insights to the CIO into the usage of public/home Wi-Fi and 3G networks which enable the organization to eliminate unnecessary costs for paid Wi-Fi and security breaches due to the use of non-corporate networks,” said Raffi Tchakmakjian, VP Product Management at Trellia. “These un-managed costs and security issues are usually detected after the fact, when the repercussions have already occurred. Having the means to spot these issues as they happen, and enforce the adequate policies to eliminate them, has a significant impact on the organization’s mobility initiatives.”

The new MPM 5.2 version is now available as both SaaS and on-premise. Please visit www.trellia.com for a demo or for information.
