Trellia Launches Hosted Mobile Policy Management (MPM) Platform Upgrade
Version 5.1 Features 3G Data Plan Management and Gobi™ Asset Management
Montreal, Canada, March 22, 2010 – Trellia Networks (www.trellia.com), a leading provider of enterprise mobility management solutions, today announced the launch of version 5.1 of its hosted Mobile Policy Management (MPM) platform, featuring 3G data plan management and 3G/Gobi™ asset management capabilities. These features are targeted at helping enterprises achieve significant mobility cost savings, avoid data security risks associated with unsanctioned device or network use and simplify mobility for their end users and IT staff.
“Mobility is mission-critical to most organizations today – adoption has shifted from ad-hoc, project-driven initiatives to strategic, corporate-wide deployments,” says Craig Mathias, Principal at the wireless and mobile advisory firm Farpoint Group. “That's why solutions like Trellia's MPM are so important - there's a core requirement to maximize return on investment from investments in mobility while keeping mobile data secure.”
The introduction of Trellia's hosted MPM platform version 5.1 expands an enterprise's ability to gain visibility and centralized control of their mobile workforce. Version 5.1 augments the Trellia Reporting Module with the following new key capabilities:
- 3G Data Plan Management: Gives enterprises a comprehensive view of all 3G usage across their mobile workforce along with visual and e-mail alerts when usage thresholds are passed. It allows plan administrators and finance departments to detect: when data plan usage is approaching and exceeding its limit, data plans that are under- or un-utilized and use of unauthorized 3G service. This functionality is provided in parallel to the existing LAN and Wi-Fi usage reports, which enable the organization to view and trend usage holistically for better decision-making on choice of technologies/providers, with respect to cost and security.
- 3G Asset Management: Enables enterprises deploying mobile devices, such as those equipped with Qualcomm's Gobi™ technology to track their 3G enabled devices. It provides inventory information for assets deployed to the mobile workforce irrespective of whether the device is activated or not. It allows IT operations departments to physically locate a given Gobi™ enabled asset, centrally activate and de-activate accounts, as well as correlate and track activated 3G assets with their respective 3G service providers and plans. From a finance perspective, it avoids the unnecessary expenses of acquiring new devices which were thought lost or stolen.
- Stand-Alone Reporting: The reporting module can now be used independently from the control agent, for organizations looking to primarily assess their mobile environment and usage trends, only to apply control policies thereafter. The module has also been outfitted with the ability to integrate with existing Business Intelligence tools in the enterprise.
“The added 3G asset tracking and 3G data plan management empowers organizations to proactively manage their mobility related costs in order to reduce their total cost of ownership while maintaining the highest level of service for their end users,” said Raffi Tchakmakjian, VP Product Management at Trellia. “This capability is critical for enterprises, looking to capitalize on the uptick in the economy, that are refocusing on productivity while trying to maintain the cost savings made in the last eighteen months.”
Come see the MPM 5.1 platform live at the upcoming CTIA Wireless convention at the Las Vegas Convention Center, from March 23-25, 2010. The solution will be showcased in the Qualcomm booth, number #2439, Central Hall C4.
